Software Project Manager

Rolling Wireless is an international company with 20+ years of experience in developing cellular modems and software for automotive market. We are worldwide the largest 2nd Tier supplier of cellular modems to the automotive industry.

We are hiring a Software Project Manager. She/He will be part of the Customer Success Engineering team. This position involves providing Rolling Wireless software expertise, project management skills and troubleshooting capabilities to customers.

Position / Assignment Purpose

The employee will be responsible for Embedded Software release delivery and overall Software support coordination for helping customers to design Car OEMs and Tier 1’s telematics applications. This role combines embedded software technical expertise, project management, and customer relationship management to ensure smooth project delivery and customer satisfaction.

  • Contribute to the car OEM and Car telematic equipment providers (tier 1) RFI/RFQ technical answer in support of Sales and Marketing. 
  • Lead software release scope definition, plan consolidation and delivery with customers, during  development phase and commercialisation phase of the telematic equipment.
  • Coordinate and participate to customers supports activities for any reported questions, issues, requirements related to Software and monitor the tasks through our database.
  • Supports Quality department during vehicle commercial phase to manage software related PCN, FA.
  • Work on Proof of Concepts (POCs) and new/advanced technology presentations in synchronization with Marketing team.
Key Accountabilities / Statement of Work

The Software Project Manager may work on Pre Sales, Customer Project in Execution and Advanced Engineering activities. % is given as an indication of the possible workload and will balance depending on objectives :

Pre Sales activities (10-30%):

  • Be ready to present the Software roadmap, perform Rolling Wireless demos.
  • Support the Customer Program Manager/Sales/Marketing and/or Sales in RFI/RFQ phases.
  • Foster and develop a positive working relationship with technical stakeholders at prospects/customers to get information on new projects.

Project Execution (50-70%):

  • Be with the Customer Program Manager the customer voice within the company and the company’s voice to the customer.
  • Lead software releases scope definition, plan consolidation and delivery with customers.
  • Ensure and coordinate Rolling Wireless R&D and third parties contribution to problem solving.
  • Synchronize with the Customer Program Manager the actions plan and the communication to customers for SW part.
  • Chair regular conference calls / meetings with customer interfaces to coordinate SW part of the project.
  • Chair regular conference calls / meetings with internal stakeholders to coordinate SW part of the project.
  • Coordinate and support the questions, issues, requirements, and other issues related to SW project reported by customer and monitor them through our database.
  • Manage, track and consolidate status of SW analysis backlog.
  • Lead investigation or investigate the issue in close collaboration with other team members or platforms development engineers to make sure the most optimized solution will be integrated for each issue reported, up to solution delivery and explanations to customers.
  • Regularly report the SW part of project to interfaces (external and internal) and escalation to direct hierarchy and high-level managers.
  • Help on technical convergence and solution proposal for customers SW requirement.
Advanced engineering and transversal activities (20%):
  • Handle specific demo, Proof of Concepts, document.
  • Contribute to the continuous knowledge database generation (Application Notes, videos, webinars,..) for guiding the customers with Rolling Wireless product key features / wireless technology expertise.
  • Perform internal and customer training on specific features.
  • Proactively self-training on new technologies that will appear/be used in our market and by our customers.
  • Contribute to definition and improvement of way of working and processes, and ensure they are effectively adopted and applied by the team.
Required Experience
  • 7+ years of working experience with 2+ years in project management (transversal management) or/and Customer support in embedded projects with remote teams and in an international environment.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience on embedded software development, preferable in mobile telecommunication devices.
  • Experience and autonomy in issues investigation/resolution.
  • Experience with SW quality processes to ensure best practices usages.
  • Experience with SW/HW investigation procedures (FTA/FA/RMA) is a plus.
Required Skills and Competencies

Practical skills (Know-How) :

  • Hands-on experience on embedded software C/C++ programming.
  • Knowledge in development process : development life cycle, version control (like Git), bug tracking, Agile methodology, ...
  • Overview in Linux system (Yocto environment, GitHub…) and generic components (RootFS, Network/IP, IPC, process scheduling, …)
  • Familiar with telecom system (2G, 3G and 4G), and in telecom specificities (SMS, TCP/IP, VoLTE, QoS, IMS, …).
  • Overview in hardware platforms and peripherals (CAN, UART, USB, SPI, I2C, ….)
  • Overview in eCall, GNSS solutions, Wi-Fi or CV2X solutions is a plus.
